The story revolves around the annual event "The Epiphany"where people compete to grab the Cross during a sacred procession. Ftikas's henchman successfully seizes the Cross, securing Ftikas's fourth consecutive victory. However, Sotiris, a participant, plans a clever strategy to deceive his nocturnal assailant, Diplokaimon. Sotiris intends to place his Logos' unopened love letter into another envelope, inscribe it with a childish message to trick Diplokaimon, and retrieve his hat in the process. During the crowded procession, Alekos alerts Sotiris that his hat is in Diplokaimon's pocket. Seizing the opportunity, Sotiris skillfully hands the folded love letter to his Logos, who promptly places it in his pocket, returning Sotiris' hat. In the end, both parties get what they desire: Sotiris reclaims his hat, and Diplokaimon unknowingly receives the love letter. With this, Sotiris no longer fears Diplokaimon, who would soon depart after the Cross immersion. The story is set in 1889.
